Staying Motivated

It’s over 2 weeks now since I’ve started working out and it’s being a lot of fun. All the fears and worries are gone. I now love lifting the bars because it lifts up my spirit. I can feel the improvement in my body already. Truth be told though, staying motivated is not a child’s play. The first week was very crazy. My hands and body were so aching that I couldn’t sleep well. There was no quitting in my mind but there was the feeling of laziness. I fought the spirit of laziness and it had no chance against me.
I tried as much as possible to keep enduring the pain and today I’m happy that I didn't quit. It’s becoming a major part of my life now and I wonder what I’ve been doing all these while. My body metabolism is better and I’m already seeing some changing in my body structure all within 3 weeks.
My advice for staying motivated:

  • Do not give in when the body is asking for total relaxation, you might feel too relaxed and get tired of the whole process of working out.
  • Try to find someone with like mind that will keep you motivated when you feel down, it helps a lot.
  • Set some achievable goals and try to work at those goals until you achieve them. It might be as little as going for 10reps 2sets of sit-up every day. A realistic goal will do a lot of help.
  • Challenge your friends. This might also be a cool way of making sure you don’t quit until you are able to show your friends your improved biceps.

Day 1

I got to the gym 1 hour to the closing time and I did the necessary registration. I choose this gym partly because it’s obscure and because it’s relatively cheap. I don’t want to go to the elite gym because I’m a complete beginner and there would be a lot of people looking. Though I do not feel inferior at all but the truth is I’m inferior :( as you would see in my picture. I look so skinny. I don’t wanna feel discouraged by people’s look before I even get started. So after taking some pictures to keep track of the changes in my body, I started with some light exercises to get my whole body ready for the bars! So here we go 1,2,3 first set, second set, third set, hanging introduction to lifting real bars 101. Damn! This shit ain't easy but I gotta do what I gotta do.

My Body Transformation

So I decided to start that dreadful activity that gets most men scared to ever dabble into,  working out.
I look too skinny for my age and it's now feeling awkward when people tell me " you look skinnier than before." I feel in the next five years, I'm gonna look like a Chinese chop stick so I thought I have to do something about this.
It’s been a lot of mixed feelings “I can do this”, “it’s very hard”, “I have to eat a lot of protein and vitamins”. All of those discouraging statements were going on in my mind. I had tried working out a long time ago but I always quit every time I find it hard to brush my teeth due to my contracted biceps.
Now, deep inside me, I’m determined but also scared because everyone is telling me that I shouldn't expect any changes in one month. The truth is that I really want to see some changes in one month to keep me motivated. I greatly believe this is possible because I know my body responds to changes quite easily or may be working out is different. So every week I’m going to be tracking my experiences to learn about myself and to know how the changes are taking place if any :)
